Our Father and His Son

THERE IS ONLY ONE FATHER GOD.

  • Mark 12:29, 32, 34: There is one God; and there is none other but he.
  • 1 Corinthians 8:4: That there is none other God but one.
  • John 17:3: The only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.
  • 1 Corinthians 8:6: But one God, the Father and one Lord Jesus Christ.
  • Ephesians 4:6: One God and Father of all, who is above all.

WHO IS THIS GOD?

  • Revelation 21:22: The Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple.
  • 1 Corinthians 11:3: The head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.”
  • 2 Corinthians 1:3: Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort.
  • 1 Corinthians 15:24-28: God shall put down all rule and all authority, power and destroyed is death. And the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all.
  • 2 Thessalonians 2:16: Lord Jesus Christ himself and God hath loved us, and good hope through grace.

GOD THE FATHER.

  • John 3:16, 17: God the Father gave His Son to save us.
  • 1 John 4:8: God is love—that is His character and essence.
  • John 14:9: While on earth, Jesus revealed the Father.

JESUS IS GOD BY HIS SONSHIP THROUGH HIS FATHER

  • Matthew 16:13-18: “Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God ...
  • 1 John 4:15: Confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.
  • 1 John 2:22, 23: He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.
  • 1 John 4:9, 10: God sent his only begotten Son into the world... Herein is love...
  • John 3:16: For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son.
  • 1 John 5:5: Believeth that Jesus is the Son of God.
  • John 8:42: I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself....
  • John 5:18: Jesus said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God.
  • 1 John 5:1: Jesus is the Christ is born of God.

WHO SPEAKS TO GOD THE FATHER ON YOUR BEHALF?

  • 1 Timothy 2:5: For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.”
  • 1 John 2:1: we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:

THE DEMONS IDENTIFY GOD AND HIS SON JESUS.

  • Matthew 4:3: If thou be the Son of God,
  • Matthew 8:29: What have we to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God?
  • Mark 5:7: What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the most high God?
  • James 2:19: there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.
  • Acts 16:16,17: These men are the servants of the most high God,

THE SON OF GOD.

  • John 1:1–3: Jesus, the Word, and Creator, is called God.
  • John 1:14: Jesus the Word came to live among us on earth.
  • Colossians 1:15, 16: Jesus created all things.
  • John 17:18–26: Jesus was in perfect unity with the Father.

OLD TESTAMENT PREDICTED COMING OF THE MESSIAH.

  • Genesis 3:14, 15: A Redeemer promised in Eden.
  • Isaiah 7:14: Savior to be born of a virgin.
  • Isaiah 9:6, 7: Birth of Christ predicted.
  • Micah 5:2: Savior to be born in Bethlehem.

CHRIST’S BIRTH AND EARLY LIFE.

  • Luke 2:10–16: Luke’s record of Christ’s birth.
  • Luke 2:40: Jesus grew physically and intellectually.
  • Luke 2:42–49: At age 12, Jesus realizes His mission.

CHRIST’S MINISTRY (WHY HE CAME).

  • John 3:16, 17: That we may have everlasting life.
  • Matthew 1:21: To save us from sin.

CHRIST’S DEATH AND RESURRECTION.

  • Isaiah 53:1–9: Christ’s death predicted and described.
  • 1 John 3:16: From love for us, Jesus gave His life for us.
  • John 19:28–30: Jesus dies on the cross.
  • Matthew 28:5–8: Jesus is resurrected.

DID JESUS RAISE HIMSELF FROM THE DEAD?

  • Acts 2:24: “Whom God has raised up, having loosed the pains of death:”
  • Acts 2:32: “This Jesus has God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses.”
  • Acts 3:15 “And killed the Prince of life, whom God has raised from the dead;”

THE HOLY SPIRIT OF GOD.

  • John 14:16–18: Jesus promised the Spirit to take His place on earth.

  • John 16:13: The Spirit guides us into all truth.
  • Genesis 1:2: Divine operation in creation.
  • John 14:16, 17: Connecting link between God and man.
  • John 16:13, 14: Never speaks of Himself.
  • Revelation 4:5: Seven lamps represent the Seven Spirits of God.
  • Zechariah 4:10: Eyes of the Lord.
  • 2 Chronicles 16:9: Searching for those who are true to God.
  • John 16:5-13: Better than personal presence of Christ.
  • John 16:8-11: Reproves of sin; witnesses of righteousness.
  • Romans 8:26, 27: Presents our prayers.
  • Romans 8:27, 28: Makes all work for good to the faithful.
  • John 14:26: Comforter; strengthens memory.
  • Ezekiel 36:26, 27; 1 Samuel 10:6, 9. Changes the heart.
  • Acts 1:8: Gives power.
  • Acts 2:4: Gives utterance.
  • Ephesians 4:30: We are sealed by the Spirit of God.
  • 1 John 4:13: Jesus gives us His Spirit that we may dwell in Him.
